Oh, to be a teacher, the look of brand new school supplies and shoes, the smell of the laminator heating up down the stairs, the sounds of children entering the halls and their parents torn between shouts of joy or tears of sadness as their babies get another year older.
My background education began as a 2002 graduate of Watertown High School in Watertown, SD. I then spent the next two years at Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD. I finished my Bachelor of Arts degree through Mount Marty College in 2007. In 2008 I decided to go back to school. I attended Southwest Minnesota State University for two years and earned my Master of Science in Education in 2011. A glutton for punishment, I have decided I am not quite done with my education and now attend the University of South Dakota. I am currently working on my dissertation for the Ed. d. pre-K-12 Administration program.
I began my career as a teacher in 2007, as a third grade teacher at Immaculate Conception school. Since then, I have taught fifth grade, fourth grade, and now am back for my eleventh year at I.C. School and back in fifth grade.
I have been very recently married. My husband, Aaron, and I have four children. Melody is 20, Gage is in 8th grade, Brooklynn is in 5th grade at I.C., and Cadence is in 2nd grade at I.C. I enjoy curling up with a good book and a diet Coke. We also like to golf and camp for as long as the weather will allow. I am very close to all of my extended family, and my love of the "Peanuts Gang" was fostered by my dad. A visit to my classroom will show that this has become a slight obsession. My favorite quote that I try to live my life by is from Charles Schulz.
"Always be yourself. No one can say you're doing it wrong." ~Charles Schulz
